Annual St Olaf Community Clean Up Day
HELP! On April 27th we will have an Annual St Olaf Community Clean Up Day. Beginning at 2:00, Sunday April 27th all 4 congregations and volunteers will meet in the court yard for specific cleaning and maintenance duties.
We need all the help we can get. We will end the work day with a “POT LUCK” dinner in the Center for Youth Ministries hosted by the women of the church. Please come to join in the spring cleaning!
There is a sign-up sheet in the entrance. Please let us know where you would like to help!
If you can help in creating a work list and organizing the day, please contact the church office.

The Lutheran World Relief Fair Trade Coffee Project
The coffee order is in. ALL TYPES OF COFFEE INCLUDING SOME GREAT NEW FLAVORS WILL BE AVAILABLE AS OF SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2nd in the church office daily. Please support this program and make a difference! Coffee is $7.00 per bag. Help make a difference by purchasing Free Trade Coffee. See Pastor Tony, or his wife, Carol, for more details.
The Coffee crisis: four million farmers and their families at risk.
Coffee is big business—it’s one of the most heavily traded commodities in the world. But for the majority of small-scale coffee farmers, the benefits are few.
Conventionally traded coffee involves a lengthy, and expensive, cast of middlemen between the coffee farmer and the consumer, each taking their share—or more—of the coffee price. What’s left for the farmers may not even cover their production costs or basic living expenses. Many farmers now are earning less for their crops than their great-grandparents did 100 years ago.
Coffee prices are notoriously unstable and in recent years have dropped to historic lows, forcing farmers from Colombia to Tanzania to give up their farms. Many are unable to pay for daily necessities such as medications, clothing or school fees. Overwhelmed with debt and unable to earn a consistent income in such an unstable market, farmers are moving to the cities or migrating to other countries in search of work.
Help make a difference by purchasing Free Trade Coffee. See Pastor Scheer or Carol Scheer for more details.
Lutheran Social Services

From the Director: Mrs. Bea Rea
Lutheran social services is now getting ready for their biggest fundraiser of the year, the “walk-a-thon”. It will take place on June 14th at 7:45 am, at First Lutheran in Newport Beach, California. More information will be given in March along with sign-up sheets. We hope to see walkers from St. Olaf joining the fun!
Our soup kitchens had a very busy month serving “hot meals” to over 800 families in need and homeless people. These volunteers really go all out and then some to serve hot and nutritious meals. The meals are served Tuesday from 12 Noon to 1:30 pm at United Methodist Church, Wednesday at St. Anselm’s and Thursday at Garden Grove Friends Church.
So for now, Thank you, Pastor Tony, for all your support!
Blessing to you!
