Pastor Notes ...
On Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2nd I will be attending another educational event. It is for Coaching Skills Training. This event is offered through trained leaders of the ELCA and the Pacifica Synod.
The Pacifica Synod is committed to the development of a network of coaches for the purpose of supporting leaders and congregations in their ministries. In this context, coaching is not counseling, teaching, advising or mentoring, but is a source of support through the process of using positive and affirming questions to search for and reveal the best in people and their organizations. The goal of a God-centered coaching relationship is to provide the person receiving the coaching with someone who is trained not just to offer a listening ear, but to ask useful questions which enable people to clarify goals, explore alternatives, make decisions, develop strategies and take action within their ministry context in a manner which maintains healthy functioning for themselves and their congregations or ministry settings.
Also in April, I am going to take a personal vacation to do some hiking in the mountains. I am looking forward to this vacation and have been training for it since Christmas. I have lost 19 pounds and greatly improved my health by rigorously working out.
Kari, my youngest daughter, will also be on Spring Break that same week. We will do some traveling possibly to visit friends in Phoenix, Arizona and in Porterville, California.
This transitional living has been very difficult for my family and we are looking forward to some time together on this break. Pray for us.
