The Lutheran Magazine

The Lutheran magazine belongs to the people of the ELCA in all our diversity. The magazine:
- Nurtures awareness of Christ's presence in our lives and the world.
- Shares stories of God's people living their faith.
- Connects us with the global Christian community.
- Provides an open forum for discussion.
- Challenges us to bring God's grace and care to all.
The St Olaf Wold Foundation has graciously offered to supply each active and new member family of our congregation a yearly subscription to the Lutheran Magazine. The interest earned in our Trust fund is to be used to improve the Spiritual Education of our congregation and to help in special ministries.
Hopefully we can have this subscription delivered to your home by June. If you do NOT wish to receive this national publication of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America please contact the church office.

Children's Worship
We believe that coming together to worship God is essential for growing Christians in a community of worshipers, we learn more about God and God’s plans, and we can support one another in living in a way that reflects God’s love and care. Thanks to the creative talents of Anna Roehmann and Diane Cox we are able to offer our children small activity bags to be used during worship.
Pick up a “Busy Bag” from the back of the worship facility. These activity bags are filled with many things that aid children’s understanding of God and worship. Please return the bags to the activity tree after worship.
If children are able to read, share a bulletin with them, use your finger as a guide to liturgy or hymns.
Bring a children’s Bible and help them find the Old and New Testament scripture readings of they are able to follow along or look at a picture of the scripture for the service.
Acolyte Training Class
On May 18th, at 4:00 pm, there will be an acolyte training session in the sanctuary for all young people (as approved by your parents) who would like to volunteer for this important and special ministry.

Family Safety Night
We would like to offer our most sincere thanks to all of you who participated in St. Olaf s First Annual Family Safety Night. Although turnout was lower than expected, in addition to families from St. Olaf we had approximately 35 additional families join us from the community.
Our belief going into this event was that if we could help as little as one family become more prepared in case of an emergency we would be successful. Looking back over the night, we feel we have accomplished that goal, and so much more.
But none of this would have been possible without all of our gracious organizations who donated their time to be here. Many young children learned how to safely put out a fire by use of fire extinguisher; families learned how to survive if they ever became stranded, and how to cope with other emergency situations.
Once again, we extend our deepest thanks for your participation in our event!
The "U" in Jesus
Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of God's Son.
And each time U pray, you'll see it's true,
You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.
You're a pretty big part of God's wonderful name,
For U, God was born; that's why God came.
And God's great love for U is the reason God died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.
Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
God rose from the dead, with U in God's plan?
The stones split away, the golf trUmpet blew,
And this world resUrrection is spelled with a U.
When JesUs left the earth at God's upward ascension,
God felt there was one thing God had to mention.
'Go into the world and tell them it's true
That I love them all - Just like I love U.
So many great people are spelled with a U.
Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?
It all depends now on what U will do.
God like them to know, but it all starts with U.
Offical Notice Of Public Hearing - Garden Grove
The Zoning Administrator of the City of Garden Grove will consider our permit application for a second cell tower at its meeting on JUNE 12th, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
The meeting MUST have good representation from the St. Olaf Community in order to demonstrate how much we support T-Mobile in their efforts to get a tower on our site. This tower is crucial to additional ministry opportunities as we continue our growth in outreach.
The meeting will be at City Hall in the Third Floor Training Room
11222 Acacia Parkway, Garden Grove
For more details please contact the church office.
Strawberry Festival Recap
The booth has been cleaned out, the carpets rolled up, and all of the ^^^ money has been counted. Yes, another successful Strawberry Festival Season has passed us up in a whirl offish, ping pong balls and money earning fun.
Church members, parents accompanied by children from FKC and St. Olaf Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten, teenagers from the community and old friends volunteered to sell baskets of ping pong balls, hand out winning tickets, distribute 6500 fish to winners, gather stray ping pong balls, fill baskets and generate more business for our popular fish booth.
Over the four day weekend week end St. Olaf brought in $8,159.52, minus expenses. Carol Melland is currently in frenzy, doing the paperwork to receive a projected $3,200.00 in matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
After expenses and matching funds we are expecting to earn approximately $10,000.00.
Special thanks to all who spent a part of your Memorial Day Weekend helping us during our biggest fundraiser of the year!
