Welcome to St. Olaf Lutheran Church!

St. Olaf is a church focused on service and caring in the heart of Orange County, California. We are centered on welcoming, serving, and supporting our members and our community. Come and discover the richness of a supportive and caring community.

Our Mission

We are a Christian Community forgiven by God’s Grace, enlightened by God’s Word, chosen in Baptism, nourished at the Lord’s Table, fulfilled by God’s promise; and being a loving community of God’s people, we worship, learn, witness, and serve together.

Blessings to you in this Pentecost Season!

Jesus said to them, "The harvest Is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest... 'The kingdom of God has come near to you. But whenever you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off in protest against you. Yet know this: the kingdom of God has come near.' Luke 10:2-11 (NRSV)

BUILDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

It might seem as if summer has just begun, but the ministry of the church is continuing and we are preparing for a very exciting fall season for the ministries of the church. We are far from taking a summer break and relaxing.. ..the work has just begun! Our Council is currently asking themselves what should be a priority for the leadership at this time. I have found that as we push our Outreach ministries through the new Youth Center and the Bridge , our Youth and Educational ministries are perhaps the most important ministry that needs tending. In the past few years this congregation has been able to see beyond the past and look forward at how our ministries can grow in different ways.

What all of us can see clearly is that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. We pray to God that we find the laborers during this harvest. In other words, we need your help. Regardless of your past experiences in working with Evangelism, Worship, Properties, Outreach, Stewardship, & Youth and Education, we need everyone to consider starting anew with us. There are many things in which to praise God for as we begin our planning the fall season and we celebrate the coming of a new educational year. Sam Ebnet, our new Music and Youth minister is working hard to create a workable program which will meet the needs of our children and

youth of the community. Our Adult Education is going well with at least 10 people participating on Sunday Mornings. We are in process of beginning more programs and ministries for our elders. These programs will only work when there are people to help bring in the harvest. In the coming weeks we will schedule Youth, Education, and Worship Task Force meetings. We need harvesters in each of those groups to help bring ideas and carry out the programming and activities which are decided upon. During this Season of Pentecost where we hear Jesus sharing the Good News of the Lord, let us all respond to the call to help in the harvest which is so plentiful within St. Olaf Lutheran Church and our community. AMEN? Amen!
